big bock 727 trouble

I don't myself, sorry. I need mine done up here in NJ also. I saw you didn't have any "likes", so I gave you one. Good luck! :)

Don’t over build
Most anyone who is a competent mechanic can do a 727 proper clean n
Detail Only hard part is the lip seals in the drumWeve put newport trans in the drag car & ran the same #s with only a manual valve body Kick down importnt

My trans was built for racing;;;manual, reverse valve body, etc. I don't have any particulars and was told that only a guy who builds racing transmissions should touch it. I found the guy & he isn't far away but he is 73 years old & it's too big a job for him to remove it even though he has a lift. I must either do it my self or find another way.Problem is I do not think I can get the car high enough off the ground to clear the bell housing. He will do a bench job on it & his shop wall is covered with pictures of race cars who's transmissions were built by him! Soooooo, I am waiting for the lift install fairy to pay me a visit! :(

If he has the lift, maybe you could hire on as a $.01/hr. "employee" and get it out for him to fix.Watch and learn along the way,and maybe bring a younger stronger helper to train.Mine's been done with a floor jack,1X6 board, and a nylon ratchet strap a number of times. It's not for everyone, but it can be done without lots of equipment if you have to.

I asked the old guy about that he said something about insurance issues & such plus he doesn't want to tie up his lift for more than a day. He said it could take several days to fix & if it needs back ordered parts would cause problems. He is also paranoid about Covid, even if I kept a mask on. I have pulled a few transmissions way back when. Usually manual to change out a clutch or throw out bearing. That's one reason I am a Mopar guy, the transmissions are one of the most reliable anywhere! There is a young guy down the street from me who said we can do it on his lift in his heated & air conditioned garage. I am putting it off till spring as I don't want to have to test drive it on salt covered roads. I Don't want to hy-jack this thread either. I hope someone can help him out!
