any recommendations on a good reliable transmission shop in or around the maryland and virginia areas.
If he has the lift, maybe you could hire on as a $.01/hr. "employee" and get it out for him to fix.Watch and learn along the way,and maybe bring a younger stronger helper to train.Mine's been done with a floor jack,1X6 board, and a nylon ratchet strap a number of times. It's not for everyone, but it can be done without lots of equipment if you have to.My trans was built for racing;;;manual, reverse valve body, etc. I don't have any particulars and was told that only a guy who builds racing transmissions should touch it. I found the guy & he isn't far away but he is 73 years old & it's too big a job for him to remove it even though he has a lift. I must either do it my self or find another way.Problem is I do not think I can get the car high enough off the ground to clear the bell housing. He will do a bench job on it & his shop wall is covered with pictures of race cars who's transmissions were built by him! Soooooo, I am waiting for the lift install fairy to pay me a visit!
