Was just having a conversation about this with 747Mopar the other night. I'll let him answer what material would be best.
Question though. As I'm looking into this myself to a degree for the better braking but also aesthetic reasons as I want to run a larger wheel and discs just look better behind that setup... I understand there issues getting a working parking brake setup with the disc conversions?
I want to install my Brembo Z18, 6 piston calipers with the 13" Dr.Diff rotors and hubs. Therefore I'm drawing a bracket in Autocad. Before I'm going to a machine shop a friend of will 3D print the bracket to see if it fits right.
I'm also using a 72's b-body spindle. My car had drums all around. I'm also using the 11.7" rotors Dr.Diff sells for the rear with his aluminum bracket and have already finished this set up.
Because the distance between the spindle and the rotor is about 9 mm, I want to use steel instead of aluminum. The bracket will be 7 mm thick.
My apologies. Every time I see someone making their own brackets it seems to be for the rears lol. I guess because front conversion kits are more plentiful?
I already have a small disc conversion up front but actually looking at the same fronts and rear's from Cass that you have.
No problem. I wasn't clear about the position of the bracket.
I want to make a Hammer clone. Al least on the outside. Haven't got enough money for a Ray Barton engine. I'm going to order 10 spoke wheels. 18x8 for the front and 19x10 for the rear. The reason I'm using a small rotor for the rear because I want use steelies for the strip.
For the front I wanted to use a 6 piston caliper. Because I don't want to spend a ton of money on a brake set up I want to use the Brembo Z18 caliper. Because these are axial mounted I'm making it a little bit harder for myself. Besides that I'm always looking for a challenge. ;)
anyway If I could impose & ask you
"could add the dimensions/overall measurements & hole to hole, bolt hole sizes, register size over spindle, spacers etc., details to one of those drawings too ?",
for future references, it'd be really helpful for other too
