Well, it was a big score for me. My Roadrunner needed a passenger mirror and rear window trim to finish off the exterior, found a fella parting out a 74...low and behold he had them and they were mint...plus the 440 had a single plane street dominator intake on it. Scooped everything up for relatively cheap ($200)

So the intake needs to be cleaned up, no big deal but the trim has silicone on it from someone's crappy attempt at sealing the glass from the outside of the trim.

Any suggestions on removing the silicone without ruining the trim? I've picked and rubbed the bulk of it off, just looking for a chemical that won't ruin the finish...

Small brass brush. It'll need a little polishing after.

I think denatured alcohol or "rubbing" isopropyl alcohol will sometimes help to remove it,
it might dull the trim some, a little rubbing compound will fix that...

I used some lacquer thinner, when mine were off the car, but polished mine afterwards,
it does kind of dull the surface, gets out all the black oxidation in the pours/scratches too...

Someone did the same thing,
silicone everywhere on the windshield trim & rear window trim on my 68 RR too...

Use your thumb and "push" it off. Seriously, we do this all the time on double sided tape, weatherstrip glue, bug crap and whatever. Push it and roll it off the surface. This will make your thumb sore and take a while but 100 % unscrewupable safe for that trim. And you will have learned a new skill. :laughing5:
