I'm striking out on searching for some pics of the blackout behind the grille on a 69 Roadrunner. I was at the nats last weekend and I was surprised at how many cars didn't have it done at all. Any pics or links would be much appreciated-my car is getting close to paint and I need this detail for the painter!!

rule of thumb is anything facing forward in front of rad support was painted black

usually

There was a good thread about this a while ago, cant find it now. Should be everything visible through the grill, sprayed upward at a 45 degree angle (i believe they were painted from a pit), and only on lighter colors. Dark blue, black, etc. didnt get the treatment. The pictures ive seen are pretty sloppy. Ill try to find a couple, theyre on here somewhere.

Correct and True because one of my fender still has the original factory paint and the inner headlight buckets are unpainted galvanized steel buckets and behind that is flat black.

Here are a few pics of my Roadrunner's hemi orange fender and a black Satellite's fender.

my 66 Charger....pay no attention to the corrosion on the radiator...it's been replaced since pic was taken. This is an original car...note upper rad support painted as well
