There is the sound of a dieing whale coming out of the intake area on my 360. It has just started recently.

One of the bolts on my valve cover wiggled loose. Ended up blowing the gasket so I replaced both sides and still there is the sound.

I'm thinking it's coming from the intake - Carb seal? Leaking or not tightened down enough?

Started happening right on start-up. Doesn't change as the car warms up.

Rather than making a new post, there is an oil leaking coming out of the back of my oil pan area. I believe it is coming out of the crank shaft seal? I've heard that sucks and is pretty damn hard to replace. Do you guys know of any ways to temporarily stop/fix this? Or should I just park the grass until I end up rebuilding the engine?

It spits out about two half dollar sized spills after it sits just after being ran.

Dying whale? Are you close to the ocean? That's funny. Anyway, it's probably a vacuum leak from the carb base gasket or a split hose. Get a water spray bottle and, with the engine idling, spray the water around the base of the carburetor and all the hoses that attach to the carb and intake manifold. When you hit a leak, the dying whale will expire. Then you can take appropriate action. Good luck...

Look at the back of the intake and valve covers first . Could it just be left over oil from your valve cover leak? If not, get under the car and tighten up the oil pan bolts. Use a torque wrench and tighten them to factory specs for your motor. Too tight and you can 'pucker' the pan and it'll never seal. If this doesn't do it, park in the grass. It's way easier to replace the rear main seal successfully when the engine's upside down. Happy whale hunting...
