i have a 60 plymouth belvedere and am trying to figure out what body type it is. i know 62 belvederes are b bodies but no one seems to know about the 60. trying to find parts has been difficult because every place asks what body type

The reference book I use does not reference th B-body style until 1963. Really Plymouth "Muscle" wasn't until 1963.

Your 60 Belvedere was the mid-size offering by Plymouth in 1960, so I would call it a B body signifying the mid-size car. For the parts places, say late 50's plymouth mid-size. The 60 has more in common with the 58-59 than the 63-64 IMHO.

Good luck, that could be a challenge to restore.

I can't say for sure if they were designating the bodies like the later stuff, but I do know this guy knows what they are and probably has parts http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2307853180034181967fECMBi

He's mostly about big Mercury's but likes the old MoPars as well. His personal drivers are 50's MoPars

He might be on forwardlook.com forum as big m auto.

body size

Darby,
Dont get caught up on the body designation. They are 'full size' for practicality purpose. The B body name came form chryslers platform spec. So the 60 is NOT a B body. It shares dims and interchange with 'full size' 60 to 64 chryslers.
You have entered into an extremely difficult car model to source parts for. They went out of favor so fast in the 60's that very few lingered in wrecking yards, add to it rust issues, and low production.

Check out forwardlook.net web site for a network of fellow lost souls.

Ahhh, I am sure there are some owners of 1963 413 Max Wedge owners that would be happy to prove you wrong about that.

Also, MANY will argue that one of the first muscle cars was a 1955 Chrysler 300. It is always argued what the definition of a muscle car is. One thought is a car with 300+ h.p. which the Chrysler had.
