To be "correct", how should valve covers be attached on an early B-body B engine? When I got my '64 Polara, the heads had studs in all the valve cover mounting holes. Is this correct for early B-bodies? Or, should the studs only be in the corners, and the rest bolts? I think mid '60's engines had this set up.

Thanks for the input.

I thought it was stud in corners and the rest bolts, but I am no expert on it. I have never seen (factory) all studs.

My 1962 polara 361 ci has factory studs (4) and nuts on each cover.

studs in all holes with 1/4-28 nuts. i know my 68 road runner had studs in the corners and bolts in the center. my 69 r/t had bolts all around. the change to using some/or all bolts was probably mid to late '60's.

Studs all the way around Joe Suchy sells a correct kit studs are 1/4-20 into the head and 1/4-28 for the valve cover nuts.
