I recently purchased a 2018 Challenger 392 Scat Pack with the Shaker hood. The car has 18,000 miles and is currently covered by the factory warranty. My question concerns extended warranties. I’m planning on keeping the car far beyond the bumper to bumper (3 years/36,000 miles).

My biggest concern is the electronics/electrical systems. Most of the plans offer continued coverage of the electrical/computers and the related systems with different deductibles.

I believe several members have later model Challengers and am wondering what you’ve done and if your bought extended warranties what company did you purchase from. Prices are all over the place....would appreciate any and all comments.

most are rip off's when i had my shop and others i ran when we called about a blown head gasket they would denied the claim and or wanted to use used a/c parts and i just wont do that.

open a separate bank account and put the money that you would spend on the warranty in there and when you need it you have it.

nice-looking 392 Scat Pack

I've never been a big fan of extended warranties
seems **** breaks after they are expired anyway
or they won't cover **** or pro-rate ****/parts etc.

I bought extended Mopar Factory warranties for both by 2015 300C and Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. I went through a dealer in NC (for vehicles bought in CA) and paid about $2,200 - $2,300 each for 8 year / 120K with $100 deductible. Haven't needed to use them yet, but (to me) well worth the $$$. Dealerships I think like them too.

It looks like they may now only offer extended on a new car, but maybe give them a call if interested. They were very helpful to me both times.

Yes and no. If you plan to mod it then no. Yes as they have a fatal flaw and eat cams. They lifted the cam about 2" from the LA engine. This design does not allow lubrication to the rollers and they eat the cam. They will oil at 2500rpm so do not let them idle. Also never let them overheat. My Bro has one a 6 speed. Started with the hemi tick, then ate the cam then took out the bottom end. His is the same as yours but I called the core edition.

0-30 Amsoil and this not likely. 5-20 engine
Killer. Also more probable with MDS.

6 speeds do not have MDS. Any oil you use will not lube the rollers. Look at the design. Also look at youtube for all the dead hemis.

Most of the cam problems were 5.7 liter

I've heard plenty of stories about someone needing a major repair the day after the factory warranty expires as well as ones where the extended warranty saved the day. I myself paid a little over a grand for a warranty and got a new set of wheels after the factory one expired bc of corrosion, probably 2/3 the cost of the warranty. Of course all of that is moot if you end up dealing with an unscrupulous insurer.
