Brake bleeding and double flares

I broke down and bought a double flaring tool from Eastwood. It mounts in a vise and has this current type arraignment with the dies for various size tube. I will say it works very well and i made perfect flares the first time. Cut the tube square,ream and it went well.

My other thing is bleeding the brakes. Over the decades I've bled many a brake and many times my pedal pumper was my wife. She cant do it anymore and these cheap power bleeders don't cut it. I was thinking of taking a flat plate the proper size to fit my master and having one side surface ground and making my own top and then trying to power bleed the system. What i did take a chance on was these one way bleeders that have a check valve in them,letting fluid out and no air back in. I don't know how good they are but will let you guys know
 
Get a new assistant... :)
Seriously tho, my wifes helped out a bunch of times over the years .........
 
I've used a motive power bleeder, works very well, but it's always nice to have an assistant to look at. :grin:
 
Just gravity bleed. i crack all 4 bleeders and attach some 1/4" tubing and drain to 4 mason jars, all at the same time. After you see fresh fluid coming out, just go one by one and inspect for any bubbles. Of course you have to keep an eye on the mc fluid level, but it allows you to get other work done while the brakes bleed themselves.
 
I ponied up the big bucks for the Eastwood flare tool you have last year too. I just love it. Makes perfect flares every time.
 
^^^ I am with him! Works fantastic and even better sometimes then conventional bleeding! You should still find yourself a good looking assistant tho it can't hurt :)

I have a Motive Bleeder as well but I ditched the cheezy hold down chains and use a C-clamp modified to fit the bottom of the master.
 
Course being an auto tech all my life I have had my double flare tool for many years and then the newer Mopars went and started using that bubble flare and a new tool was needed.
As for bleeding brakes I did it all by myself on my 63 and on many other cars. I use the gravity method alot as sometimes it takes a little time but usually I can get it to work very good on our older muscle cars. Sometimes when done I may get a pedal pumper and hit it a few times to be sure I got all the air out. Ron
 
:thinker:Before I got my speed bleeders I used a regular old 2 person bleeder system with a one way check valve in the tubing. Route the tubing higher than the bleeder and pump like normal. Check valve kept fluid from returning and air bubbles floated up away from valve. Spring type clamp on the hose worked to hold it in place.

Speed bleeders are nice but don't over torque them because they are not as thick as stock because of the sleeve that holds the ball and spring. No issues with mine. Now if I can figure out a way to do it without crawling under the car.....:eusa_eh:
