Does anyone know if in 66 there was a factory brake booster for drum brake cars? I ordered a copy of the build card for my car from the chrysler museum and the information stated that my 66 charger came with drum brakes and a brake booster with a single master cylinder. I thought that brake boosters weren't used until 67, when disc brakes started to become available for B bodies. Any help would be appreciatted.

Chargers were definately available with power drum brakes in 1966. The booster is only used on the power brake cars.

From your definition from your IBM car it sounds like your car is a manual drum brake car.

If you want to convert it to power brakes you will need the booster, different master cylinder and a different metering block.

How do you go about ordering a copy of your build card ? Thanks.....

Should have a Midland Ross such as this one on my 65 Satellite.

the problem i'm having is that a Midland Ross booster will not fit in the engine bay with a 426 hemi, which is the engine my car came with. They used in later years the bendix booster with an offset bracket to fit in the engine bay. I have contacted the historical services to see if maybe it was a mistake that the letter stated that it was a power drum car. Anyway, thanks for the information everyone or if anyone has been able to fit the Midland Ross booster with a 426 hemi please tell me how.

Hey Joe, your card showing the power brakes just indicates your car originally came with a 318 poly  OK, just kidding! Welcome to the site.

Power disc were available in 1966 I think late in the model year and they are very rare to see.
