Heres one for ya when i step on the brake the left rear brake light come on the right does not i changed the brake light switch put in a new turn signal switch and have removed the steering wheel so i can fine tune the turn signal nut when i tighten it up both brake lights come on but when i start to replace the steering wheel hub one light goes out what should i do ps its a 1967 belvedere

maybe ive said something that pisses people off i never get any answers to my questions and it seems everyone else get some reply sorry if i said something wrong

when did it start doing this? did you do something to the car...and then this happened? or has it always done this? your brake lites and turn signals should have nothing to do with each other. my guess is that you need a new bulb on the right side (1157 bulb) . thats a 2 filiment bulb....one filiment is for turn sigs....the other filiment is for brakes. pull it out and i bet youll find one is burned out.

and have a little patience when awaiting answers.

GTX, it is not you, it is the site. This is an extremely slow moving site, and it could take a day or more before anybody who can answer the question pops in. If you want to be a member here, you will have to be patient and continue to post in your thread or create a new thread as the situation develops. A faster moving site is Moparts. Your thread might not even be on the first page for half an hour that site has so many members, and you can generally get a lot more responses. I prefer this site because it gets the job done eventually, and you will get less unhelpful type responses here. In fact, I still have gotten no responses on some questions I had on my fuel cell project, so eventually I will create a new thread that takes those questions from the second page along with the pictures and makes it easier to answer without having to read thousands of words to get to the part where I am asking my questions.

As far as your question goes, I have no idea. I am only just wishing you had a 66 Satellite so I could ask you to send me the turn signal switch you replaced since one of the turn signal return arms is broken off on my 66 and I will need a replacement switch. However, your problem sounds like a pretty simple problem for someone that knows more about that area of the car. Just give it till tonight and post some pictures to keep us entertained and the thread going.

I was reading another similar post from Sweet5ltr and I think I remember someone saying that there is a wire in the turn signal switch that has something to do with the brake lights. This sounds like a wire is getting crushed when he torques the hub causing the wire to become grounded.

i appreciate the info john i was not aware how slow it was i have that switch if you want i will ship it to ya i changed to a used turn signal switch and it fixed the brake light issue i still dont know exactly why but hopefully it is fixed for good thanks again

I can't use it because a 67 switch will not fit into a 66 column. They made the column bigger in 67 and so not even the chrome trim around the column on the lower part of the dash is interchangeable. Eventually I will just buy a new one for 150$ so that my right blinker can cancel automatically.

Turn signal cam! I had the same problem after re wiring my tail lights and the cam is rebuild-able believe it or not but it develops a soft contact at one point that just happens to be the point you tail lights need to work correctly. use bulb grease and sand the contact points to make sure they are good and brass colored.

The replacement ones everyone are selling are universal and not a 100% correct and you have to splice new wires. and the fit may be just a hair off. I would look at that first.
