A customer left this '68 GT350 convertible at our shop overnight, we did a speedometer repair, speedo cable and calibration on the car, he wasn't too bothered about leaving it there...I drive my Coronet there on Fridays...but would never leave it there at night. Did I mention this is in North Hollywood?, crack heads and bums sleep in our carport at night....there's no lights there either, when the sun goes down it's like night of the living dead.TACH=CONFIG]132490[/ATTACH] 043.JPG046.JPG051.JPG057.JPG

Gosh dang crackhead could at least get a couple dime bags for that thing, LOL

I wouldn't leave that car outside in my driveway overnight and I live out here in the sticks. Maybe he's thinking about selling it and figures the insurance $ is just as good.

My coworker left his 1997 Honda there over a weekend swapping a head and timing belt, he came back on Monday and both front rotors and calipers were gone!.
Your reply time couldn't have been better by the way, lol!

Back in 1998 I left my 93 dakota overnight, at a shop that was in a VERY safe neighorhood (in a town of about 30,000).

When I called the shop owner the next day, he never mentioned the lock cylinder laying on the floor or the screwdriver stuck in the coulmn, but when I came to pick it up he asked if I was having problems starting it. I never did business with that shop again.

I would hope the hell not. I would have sued the mother f@cker.

He left that outside????!!! And your shop allowed it? As a shop owner I wouldn't want that on my head if something happened to it.

I know at my Uncles shop, it would be locked inside over night. It a fenced off area out the way of the public, but we do it for the weather as well as keeping the rift raft from being temped.

yeah my old 68 RR is probably only worth 1/10 of that Shelby GT 350 Vert. value & it hasn't even seen rain or a night outside the garage since 2005, day I got the B_I_T_C_H... maybe the guy that owns the Shelby doesn't know it's a bad area after dark ??... that's the only thing I would think or maybe he's trying to get insurance money, like someone else said...

And I lived in Rancho Murieta a gated community originally & now in the mountains & in a very nice area/neighborhood.... I just don't give anyone an opportunity...

We had finished the car early in the day....and called every hour until we closed, he wasn't concerned one bit...he just said he'd pick it up tomorrow. We've had this happen several times before, all the customers are aware we do not have any in door storage. Most of the people we do work for are the major studios, (because of our location) and actors etc. that have a lot of money and could care less if anything happened to their car, when Billy Bob Thornton was married to Angelina Jolie he dropped off her '65 GTO that I worked on, he left it there over night as well. It's a bit too common if you ask me.

Actors etc....most are liberals and think someone else needs it more than they do if it gets stolen.....

I gotta agree with Meep here. As a shop owner myself, I would insist my customer not leave it there. Especially a 6 figure Shelby. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.

we can squeeze about 21 cars inside our building and still end up with cars outside overnight.but damn, not a car that nice in a crap area.thats just nuts.

Another thing is the guy was getting really annoyed that we kept calling him, (the boss even called) in fact he said it was his problem and not to worry about it. One of my coworkers even stayed a few hours later working just to see if the guy would show up.

He doesn't deserve a car like that, it seems like anyway, I don't know the guy, so that's just an assumption... He doesn't have the emotional attachment, to his car, that I do to any of mine anyway...

I feel the same way, my old Coronet isn't worth anywhere near that car and I'd never think of leaving outside on the street anywhere. What irritates me even more, is the people around here that can afford that type of car don't appreciate them at all. Here's a perfect example: I know of a guy a few years ago that's a trust fund kid, and he thought it would be cool to own an old muscle car...well he bought an unrestored survivor '69 Hemi GTX, (that wasn't cheap), well he took it out to a local cruise here in L.A., he bought his two kids...ages 5 & 8 ice cream, and told the kids to stay in the car, well the backseat and windows were covered with ice cream in a matter of minutes....he didn't even bother to clean it up. This was a 15,000 mile Hemi/4 speed GTX, with the original red paint & black interior!!., thank god he got bored of it soon after and sold it for less than he bought it for...everything did clean up though.
