I have a 383 i am getting ready to fire up after a recent complete rebuild. Is there a preferred break in oil to use ?
I break in all my engine's with Valvoline VR 1 Racing Oil 10 W 40. It's also a very good oil to run after break in.I have a 383 i am getting ready to fire up after a recent complete rebuild. Is there a preferred break in oil to use ?

I broke in my solid flat tappet cam with brad penn 30 WT. break in oil
No particular reason, the oil weight is the same, the 30 or 40 just denotes how much heat it will take before breakdown. Most people have suggested 30 weight. Is there a reason you prefer 40 ?

Do not run zinc additives in SN OIL
Get pre mixed break in oil for break in
after break in depends on clearances and lots of other
