I am curious on the pricing you guys have paid for chrome work, stainless polishing and pot metal refinishing.

Anyone care to share the work you had done, by who and the pricing? Trying to confirm my budget for this.

I would opt for show quality work vs driver quality work but any feedback is awesome.

A local does mine. No shipping woes or cost and he is reasonable. Straightens and polishes individual parts after I remove them. Windshield chrome, engine parts cleaned or blasted like the brake res cover etc. Does not answer your question but that's what I do. If in the San Jose or Southbay area pm me and I will give you his number.

Bob Mayle- stainlessresto.com is about 30 miles from me. Stainless window trim and driprail moldings are about $12 linear foot or so.

Do NOT use Superior Chrome out of Houston TX. After confirming over the phone they could do pot metal, I sent high resolution photos of each piece. They confirmed I did not need to prep (clean) parts prior to shipping...that they had a 'process', and would clean each piece before plating. Robbie gave me a quote, and I sent the pieces off. The parts (eventually) came back and they had cleaned NOTHING prior to plating! They plated over dirt, gasket remnants, even plated over the foil decal in the hood ornament, AFTER I had specifically asked if I needed to remove it or if they would. When I questioned the results, Robbie stated that if I wanted 'concourse quality' that it would cost considerably more! Ha-ha. I told him he never offered me different 'levels' of chrome when we agreed on the work. I ended up sending most everything back. In the end, nothing was re-done, and it took much hounding to get the parts back. I told him I would be sure to tell anybody who asked, where I had my pot metal rechromed. I had 23 pieces of pot metal...the biggest being 1 1/2" x 14", smallest being the 3/4" x 1 1/2" hood ornament base plate. All of it fit into a shoe box size box. Total robbery?... was $702!

I used a local guy and I was disappointed with the work he did. some peices ended up flaking. Definatley address any questions upfront and confirm the answer. I spent well over $3000 with this guy but I did it during the coarse of a year and didn't unwrap parts until I needed them. My mistake........Good luck!

I went with advanced custom chrome in Erie P.A. Cost about $1200 for the vent wings which is pot metal , but this is show quality. Am going to send them my bullet turn signals next. Dont trust just anyone with your pot metal parts or they will disintegrate. Good luck.

I use a local shop here in San Jose California. They do great work on Re-Chroming and Straightening and Polishing Stainless. I had my Bumpers straightened and re-Chromed, Door Handles Re-chromed, Stainless Trim around front and rear windows. Price $1200.00 There top notch and always have at least a one to two month lead time. I had my Dart trim and bumpers and was very happy with there work. They just finished my Duster Bumpers and Trim.

Thanks guys. I just sent my bumpers, pot metal and door handles to advanced plating, my grille and headlight bezels to king of trim and my stainless to bob mayle. I will report back on their work and costs!

I use Pauls chrome in Pa, they are twice the price as most others but there work is excellent. About $1,000 for a bumper, Did my bike frame for $2,000. Don't want to put that kind of money in the Diplomat, may try Advanced in Erie, looking forward to your results.
