In my last few posts I've gotten a TON of good info from this forum. Looking for some more.

I have a 73 charger with a 318/904. I bought a 360LA from a 1990 d150. I've gotten it machined .030 and bought a stroker kit. I'm looking for some good recommendations on Cylinder heads. I have a budget of like $1400 that id like to spend on the set.

I still need heads, intake, oil pan and pickup, cam, lifters (though its factory roller so i may just re use the stock ones as i hear they're pretty good), push rods, roller rockers and some other items that i cant think of off the top of my head. so i guess I'm also looking for decent suggestions on those types of items if anyone knows what will and wont work what is decent and what is crap.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Wait for speedmasters black friday sale, and buy a pair of cnc heads bare, and go from there. $1400 budget for sbm heads is pretty small. You could get decent sbc heads for that price.
Sidewinder or 440 source would be alternates.
If you REALLY want it to run like it should...... save your nickles and dimes till you can budget a set of trick flows.

Edit: check out IMM's import package sbm heads. $1425. With their prep. (Indio motor machine) good valves, good springs, good valve job.

yes speedmaster has a set for like 1200 on jegs that i was looking at. I just did not know if there were better alternatives that might be cheaper if i go iron. im not super picky as this will not be a drag car. just a little weekend warrior. i have seen that site before but cant figure out how to navigate it.

I have dealt with Brian and Fred at IMM. They are good old Mopar guys, and really know what they are doing.
In your spot, with your budget, I'd sure talk to Brian before I spent any money elsewhere.
I found Brian's heads by Googleing sidewinder small block mopar heads, and his post came up.
Brian and Fred (his dad) have built many 408 mopars.

Anyone able to post a link to some of their small block mopar heads? i seem to be unable to navigate their website to save my life

How much power do you want to make? Speed masters are the cheapest. Make sure to check the valve job, may need touch up. Indy, Edelbrock, Trickflow will make more power. We've run the stock lifters on .560" lift hyd roller with no problem in that stle LA truck block.

so far this is my cart at jegs. im not really sure the power because ive never done anything like this before. im hoping for 400+ but again not something im really 100% concerned about.

Eagle 20502 SB Chrysler 360/408 Street Strip Rotating Assembly 10.0 Mahle Dish Pistons this is the stroker kit i have currently.

im thinking it will be around 10.0:1 compression. just want it to work and be a decent motor. im hoping to get some insight on weather everything will work together and such.

Man the price on those heads is sooo good....

BTW.. did you have CNC balance the kit?

I bought a set of Speed Master small block heads on Black Friday a year ago. $650 with valves and springs for the pair. My friend John (RIP) ported a bunch of them. He really liked them.

yes i had them balance it. it was cheaper to have them do it than the machine shop i use. i agree but i was wondering if there were other places that offer maybe iron head with more performance for the same price or any kind of comparable prices. i just dont know enough and would like a few options.

Yeah, i saw their balancing is like $210 which is cheap compared to most i have seen.

The ONLY iron head I would consider for a 408 would be a W2, and by the time you get the heads put together, and the offset rockers, you'll have a lot more in em than speedmasters.
I know PORTED W2's will destroy the speedo's, but who ports iron any more? I do not know how good UN-ported W2's are. I'm a big block guy.

Edit IMM used to offer romanced Australian iron sbm heads, but the supply dried up. Something happened to the supplier. Same name of parts now, but chinese castings, and not nearly as good as the aussie ones were.
