Hi guys I own a 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner with the letter "I"on the fender tag. As I understand it that means the car was built for export. I looked through other posts there are also codes such as Y07 Y09 Y11 Y14 but my Fender tag has none of those. The car is so unoriginal that most of the body panels have been replaced on it due to damage. It does not have the built for export metal Plymouth tag next to the fender tag and it does not have the built for export sticker on the door jamb the car's been painted multiple times before I bought it so I'm sure all that stuff was discarded. I would think there would still be holes where the export tag would be on the inner Fender by the fender tag but there does not appear to be any holes. I do not have the build sheet for the car either. I am just trying to figure out if it pays to mount a built for export made in the USA Plymouth tag next to the fender tag and put a.new sticker on the door jamb. Any info would be helpful

May have been ordered through a PX overseas by a deployed soldier/sailor/airman.

That's what I thought also and without the broadcast sheet I guess I will never know, but here is why I asked this question.

"As already stated ,Y07 Canadian spec cars did not get Export tags .
Only Y09 Export cars got export tags .
And Most Y09 cars never left this country, but servicemen ordered
them while overseas to take delivery upon their return.
If you look close at fender tags the next time you go to a Mopar show, you will notice their were alot of Y09's (or "I" begining in 1971)and VONS begining with E.
Some ,if not Most ,export spec cars have "lost" their oval tags somewhere along the way .
I noted at a recent show of approx 150 Mopars ,7 export cars with only 1 still wearing it's oval .
Greg"

One quick correction based on my last post. They started using the letter "I" in 1971 and Y codes ended in 1970 so I shouldn't have a Y code on my tag. If it was ordered buy a serviceman it still should have the Plymouth built in the USA tag according to the person I quoted.
