I have noticed the chrome on the rear bumper of my '69 Road Runner, particularly above the exhaust tips, has a slight blueish tint or haze to it. I've tried 0000 steel wool and that is of no help. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good product that can bring back it's luster or is it beyond help?

Unless the chrome is discolored from heat, I use 409 then a cleaner/wax.

Probably permanent from the exhaust. Some call that "patina".

Mines the same way. I just thought it was a cheap chrome job and was planning on replacing it this winter. Maybe if I get done at work early enough I'll stop at Pauls Chrome and ask them what they think.

if it's not too deep, this stuff may take it off...

I used it for EVERYTHING metal. especially chrome/stainless. it will take the haze off right away. and it's easy too.

wax on, wax off.

It certainly ain't from heat. The exhaust just isn't that hot like on bike pipes.
I am pretty sure it is the original factory bumper so I doubt it is a cheap chrome job.

Thank you dla4567, looking forward to your reply and their advice.

Well, I left work early today, (Friday!). Figured I'd stop by Pauls Chrome and see what they think about my bumper. It seems as if they like to leave early on Fridays as well. Guess I shoulda checked their hours first, but it was on my way. Maybe next week.

maybe they take a liquid lunch on fridays. lol

Thanks for the tip marpar, I ordered some for my R/T project. It works really well, it even polished most of the scratches out of my daily driver windshield. Good stuff.
