Having decided to postpone my rebuild of the 383 RR engine due to $$s I am now gonna put a cam, lifters, and valve springs in my 318. I let the local speed shop pick it out for me. Told him I did not want to lose any performance by going too extreme and mainly wanted it to sound choppy when pulling in to a show or the like. He's gettin me a lunati. Now I pretty much know all the moves involved in the swap, just have never have actually done it. I'm lookin for any tips so as not to have any slipups during the swap. Thanks, Dave.:confused2:

Just have your gaskets, RTV, torque wrench and specs known for it and have at it.
Drain the engine of coolant via the plug on the side of the block. When you drain via the radiator only, the coolant in the block can remain and spill into the oil pan when you take the valve cover off. Speaking of which, some rage to cover the oil pan opening after the timing cover comes off is a good idea just like when you lay rags in the valley after intake removal.
