An acquaintance told me he had a purple shaft cam (possibly with a 484 lift) and a double roller timing chain for $150 bucks. They were put in a 1987 Dodge Diplomat with a 318 4 bbl and the cam and lifters have about 20 miles on them. For $250 I could have the engine and tranny and he'd drop it off. So, I bought the whole shebang. I tore the engine down to a bare block the past two weekends (on my garage floor with no help) and the parts he described appear new. The cam has purple painted between the lobes at the timing chain end. I tried to google the numbers and figure out what I had but I failed. At the round end of the cam that goes into the back of the block, it has numbers stamped into it: 0041 and below that: MPN096.
Under that end, between a lobe is stamped "02".
There are raised "pads" under that lobe but it is hard to make out what is punched into the round area as numbers. They could be "112"
At the opposite end of the cam the numbers "1136" are punched into raised pads between lobes.
I tried my JEGGS, Mancini, Summit, and even old Mopar catalogues and went on line with no luck.
I did notice in the Classic industries catalogue various part numbers for purple shaft cams. One ends in "02" and is a .484 lift cam but none of the preceeding numbers match.
Anyone have an idea what I have? Thanks
