Looking to have a shop swap the rear end gears in a Dana. Called a couple places and was quoted $1200 plus! Can anyone recommend a decent priced shop in the Tampa Bay Area?

Thanks

That is low end bro. If you want cheaper you'll have it to do.

I got some friends in the Lakeland area that could probably do better.

PM me the specifics and I'll ask them.

Thanks YY1! I totally missed your post...must have been all the holiday cheer in a bottle I was consuming.

That's pretty high for just an axle swap. I would shop around the phone book or google search.

Look for truck frame and axle shops in your area. Here is the kind of place you will want to find:

X2 on the truck shop they tend to have huge paint booths too and from my years at freightliner the guys would love the light work and for cash back in the day one could sneak a car through on a 3rd shift waiting for a job to come in. There was always someone who worked there that had their car painted with a gallon of the power company and a pint of the Frito- lay colors.... check the parking lot for old muscle and talk to someone that looks like they've been around there for a while... stay away from towing and trucking places

Bearings seals gears indexed and the price of the gears $1200 is reasonable all you're own parts and 4hours labor about $400
To swap one axle for another plus u bolts about $400
