can the 440 ly rods be used in a 383 magnum block

The rods are longer (because of the longer stroke). Not certain why this would be contemplated.

the rods in a 440 are longer due to the taller block vs the 383. the rods can be used but custom pistons with a shorter compression distance will be needed, not cost effective.

A longer rod can give you a better rod ratio angle but if I were to use the long rods in a low deck, I'd go with a 400 block since it has a larger bore than the 440 and only if I was going to build a wild engine and not a streeter...
