About an hour long video but (for me) enjoyable, informative and inspirational.
I can't help but root for this guy. Lots of thought went into his design including warming the batteries to increase range in the cold.

Edit: sorry, posted in wrong location, trying to get this moved to general discussion

Sorry it took one of us 30 minutes to see the report.....and the vid has no sound....at least none for me.

Thanks Cranky, no worries at all.
I'll be sure to be more careful.
I get sound from both links (above) hopefully that's the norm.

They lost me when they claimed the electric is more efficient then the diesel.
That statement skips so many steps in the process it is laughable.
"Electric motors can last 100 years"
Sorry no. And a situation where they could last that long is similar to any machinery, with maint. and replacement of wear items. But you could do the same with ICE.

There has been patents for a diesel/electric semi truck that functions like a locomotive for decades. Someone finally built a hybrid here though, which is neat.
Hybrids are a response to EV "green" ideology, initially, and now they have become a response to the EV mandates as some type of middle ground people are scrambling to find because a pure EV is years and years off for viability.
Neither situation is really ideal. I am glad people are looking into the tech, how else will they figure it out? But there is also more tech for ICE being developed, and tech that exists but for whatever reason was not implemented(money I am sure) that should also continue development. This entire situation where we have to go all in on EV, or not, hurts everything. As both technologies develop, it is the hybrids that can take advantage of both.
Personally, there should be room for both and markets and consumers should decide.

Agreed .... baby steps, and if allowed to develop instead of being forced it will probably happen just like that.
I was more impressed with the machine he built, his philosophy and the David and Goliath story.
I have a few 100 to 200 ton x 12' hydraulic press brakes and I ain't bendin' no .5" plate into 30' long frame rails. That's some serious shite.
Besides, he got to play with his 100k lb. Tonka Truck .... I sat in 3 hrs NYC traffic.

Hybrid, is sort of best of both worlds...

Let the buying public choose,
not unachievable (for now) forced/mandates,
with lil' to almost no infrastructure to support it
or techs to fix them
or govt. regs, shutting something (ICE) down,
for the sake of political favor/votes for the 5%
