im guessing this is a fuel problem. is it because of the carb.??? also if i hit the brakes hard from high speeds it cuts off as well. i have to take turns extremely slow . how do i solve this??only happens when turning left. this is a 67 belvedere 383 daily driver 4 barrel carb.thaks

Check the float level in the carb. If it's too low it may be running out of fuel as it sloshes to the right.

Does it change at all whether the fuel tank is full or low? The pickup in the tank may be bent or broken or something (less likely)

Another possibility is that there's a loose wire connection somewhere and when you turn, it moves the wire or component just enough to break connection.

Cuts off as in poof, nothing, and have to restart? I'd say that's electrical. Remove the bulkhead connector and inspect the terminals. You probably have some rare and exotic mystery cheese in there.

Have you tried making hard right turns, could be the floats have a pin hole and sinking in the carb, or as stated above electrical gremlin...I hate those bastards!!!

I have made hard rights and its all good. But lefts just make it die I for got to mention I've only noticed this when making lefts and giving slight throttle.never tried with a alittle hevier foot. But what's leading me to believe its fuel and not electric is because, the motor doesn't cut off like there's a short it cuts offas if I ran out of gas.when going thru the corner I can feel the engine slow waaaay down . I would think electrical would cut off right away. I'm going to double check all my connections but I'm replacing the carb too see if that helps any. .thanks guys

Kind of a sputtering huh? Check your motor mounts, especially the drivers side. Also check the proximity of the alternator stud to the shock tower. It's possible the engine is torquing over and the stud is hitting the tower and that will cause it to cut out. I've seen it happen on an E body. If you have a broken motor mount get a tie strap and temporarily hold the engine down and try again. You can also foot brake it in gear with the hood open and watch the engine to see if it moves.

Is this a Holley, or something like it? The thing that comes to mind is that in a left turn, a low float bowl level could starve the accelerator pump of fuel. You said while trying to give it fuel. That makes me think of an empty, or low, pump shot from the accelerator pump. I'm with Bobs66440. Float level.

Put a temporary fuel pressure gauge on it, taped to the cowl, and watch for drops; maybe the sock in the tank clogged, starving the carb. But ck float level 1st.

Hey guys so I replaced the carb and hooked up a fuel pressure gauge and the car no longer cuts off and hold a psi of around 20 at idle. .is that good pressure for a stock motor. ???Carb needs to be adjusted adjusting and now have a new problem. Voltage regulator is not working and think its killin my battery. . I hate electrical. .

Ummm, no way you have 20 PSI of fuel pressure and not have a fountain of gas coming from the carb. Better check the gauge or replace it. Bone stock replacement pumps are in the 3 PSI range and that will work fine.

Haha sorry had a misunderstanding not 20 psi of fuel pressure meant oil pressure
