Car won’t start. Ignition switch?

Hi all! I’m lucky to have a 69 coronet conv., auto. Haven’t started her up in about a month. Went to start today and nothing. Battery is strong, keep a trickle charger on the battery. I tried to start in neutral and nothing. With the key in the accessory postition nothing works, wipers, radio,etc. I’m thinking it’s the ignition switch. The one thing where I lack in confidence is troubleshooting electrical. Looking for some input if I might be overlooking something. Any and all suggestions is greatly appreciated!

First and foremost check and clean all connections at the firewall bulkhead.....Use dielectric grease.....That could be the problem area and the first area I would check. Inspect the fusible link from the starter relay to the one bulkhead connector.

You can initially "wiggle" the wires on the bulkhead to see if the car will start.....If it does still check and clean the connections and add grease...

I agree with @moparnation74. The bulkhead is a problem area for old Mopars. You should also invest in a quality test light and trace your power, see where it ends. That is where you should start your diagnosing. Here is a good light for under $15.00.

Jump the relay, then tell us what happens.

Agreed. Start with bulkhead. Gently remove all three banks, spray profusley with electrical contact cleaner and reinstall.

Great advice Dennis. Key word is GENTLY!! You don't want to pull wires out or damage the connectors.

I had battery connections fail so start at the battery and then bulkhead. Those bolt on battery connection ends failed me, I cleaned them and was ok after that. Clean them up and then go forward.

Agree with above, check the battery terminals. Remove, clean and see what happens .... sometimes its the dumbest stuff
