I've just rebuilt my 383 in my 70RR and am looking at getting a new carb. The engine is running a Comp Cams hydraulic flat tappet XE274H...488/491 valve lift. It's an air grabber car so I went with the Edelbrock DP4b intake. It's bored .030 over,flat-top pistons and stock HP exhaust manifolds through an entire 2 1/2 mandrel bent system. It's a 4-spd with 3:54 gears and I was thinking along the lines of a Holley 750 double pumper or a Quick Fuel HR series 750...anyone with any experience along these lines?
I'm a novice at this so if I missed something take that in mind...I was figuring a 750 DP would be good.I'm planning on TTI headers down the road...any help would be great, thanks

i think a 750 holley type carb is perfect. i used to run a 780 vacuum holley on a dp4b back in the day on my roadrunner.

Dave, it depends on your intended usage. Is gas mileage a concern? If so, consider the vacuum secondary models from Holley or the 750 Edelbrock carburetors. Either is a good choice. The double pumper Holleys are great for performance but will really drop your mpg. Have fun. Sounds like a nice build.

For a street car stay on the small side. 700 CFM max and use a STREET carb as opposed to a regular double pumper. You want the street calibrated metering block. A 650 Eddy will probably work perfectly but will cost you some upper RPM HP, and how much time do you spend at 6000 RPM anyway?

Guys thanks for the input...the car might see a night or two at the local track for the street legal drags but other than that it's on the street.I'm figuring vac sec. is the way to go but find a carb that's tunable.I was looking at the Quick Fuel line...pretty nice stuff.

I ended up getting an excellent deal on a Holley 770 Street Avenger, billet metering blocks and all.I couldn't pass up the deal...

Thanks for all the input guys...I was going to go the Quick Fuel route until I came across such a great deal on this 770 but if it doesn't go the way I like I'm going QF...
