I was taking off my engine mounts on my 440 engine when i noticed the lower ear on the block where the long bolt slides through is completley broken. Its the drivers side. Is this a major issue. I dont want the engine to bounce when i hit the throttle. Its a stock 440 engine and i wanna upgrade to locking engine mounts from shumacher. Thanks

ouch. that doesn't sound good. do you have any pics?

Schumaker Interlockers. The best. Smooth and reliable. Don't break. I tried.

Now you can get ears and lose the mounts altogether, best thing you can do and makes more room for headers.

My preference is using the stock rubber mounts with a torque strap. No vibration transferred through the mounts and no movement when you accelerate. Cheap and easy. Even a piece of heavy chain bolted between the driver's side head and the frame will work. I made one with an adjustable March alternator piece bolted between the motor mount bolt and the K member. The 'pile' of weld is actually a speed secret that I'm now willing to share with you all... lol

Cast iron can be welded but you have to know what you are doing.

I would like to see that, Got a picture ?

I'll get a pic or two later, mine is mounted without bushings, i have no vibes transmitted thru my cars, was something we thought about back in 85 and found out there is none so no need to play with or add in rubber isolators
