Got a set of 440 cylinder heads off my engine casting #3462346. Will not be reusing these heads when build time comes. So was wondering if anybody has a suggestion what these heads might be worth if any thing. They don't seem to be a desirable head but I don't need them so not going to hang on to them. Thanks

I have a set of those too. My plan was to list them for $100 and take any offer I get. :)

I've seen a couple sets of 915 heads come up for sale on CL for $300 and some change, so that would make 346 heads worth, ah, add this, carry the two, oh, I owe money to whoever takes them. :) I guess there's always scrap value.

Was going to say they will bring in 8 cents a pound around here....

They aren't all that rare 346 heads are 71-72 383-400 or 73 400-440 head castings, to the right guy , that needs them they could be worth "maybe $100" if they aren't warped cracked, the valves are ok etc., if they have been gone thru & fresh they could be worth the cost of the labor max... good luck

not too far off...LOL...

The 346 and 452 heads seem to share the same intake port design so really not much difference unless you count the factory hard seats on the 452's. Still, they are good if you have nothing and need to get down the road. Spend some money and you can use them on a good street car. If I saw a set of greasy 346's with unknown history, and I needed something to throw on an engine, I'd be looking to spend no more than $40.00 for the set (or pay only freight cost to get them here). That may sound cheap but to me (and others here) they are just not worth a lot.

Pretty much everything that has been said is what I had learned. But thanks for opinions guess I'll price them out see if anybody wants them. If not guess they can ride along to the recycling center.

All you guys are pretty harsh on those heads. I have a set that are bad ***. Ported, 2.19 Intakes, 1.81 exhausts. Plugs moved to angle plugs. Someone dumped a LOT of money in these heads, I had them decked and hardened valve seats and valves. I'll run them over 906 heads.

The 906's usually bring more just because of the years they were produced but there's still a fairly large supply of them. Before aftermarkets heads were everywhere, I ran a car 10.60's using a set of 906's. The 915's value come from the years they were made and being more rare plus they have value being closed chambered vs the later heads being open chamber....to those that like closed chambered heads. You can make just about any of the factory heads flow decently and just doing a pocket port on them helps a ton. The factory back cut in the valve pockets sucked big time. Heck, even a 516 can perform pretty nicely if you are not looking for huge flow numbers and those are probably the cheapest ones out there as no body really wants them. 346's....most people never even heard of them. How about 902's? They all have something different done to them from the factory but how much better is each one from the others? There's info on the net testing many of them if not all and for the most part, they don't seem to vary all that much on a flow bench.....but racing flow benches is much different than real world racing or even street performance.
