Hi all,
On my 62 Polara can someone tell me which way round the centre drag link should go? looks to me like it can go either way which would give options for oil pan clearance
Thankyou, easy one when you know .

The two offset (bent) ends fit so the center is dropped, under the pan. Look at the ball joint holes in the link...they are tapered, so the joints shafts only go in one way. Top, or bottom? Look in your service manual, or look it up online, to get a picture of how it all looks, with everything together.
Pretty much all Mopar front suspensions go together the same, for the years into the 70s.

Hi Miller, thankyou for reply, tapers are obvious, my question is can that bar be used either way {as in spinning round so left side goes to right, tapers wouldn't allow just turning it over}as it does fit and may offer different clearance options. Manuals/ google aren't that descriptive

Do you see a difference in the shape when you spin it end for end? Maybe trace it on a piece of cardboard then spin it and see if there's a difference. I'm getting ready to change my idler arm, probably tomorrow and I can take a closer look then.

If you look at the steering link, from the top, you'll also notice the center section, that fits under the oil pan, is shifted toward the rear. The why is, hard left/right, steering link naturally pivots forward, still clearing the pan.
Not sure what your looking for. Assuming you have a reason for asking.

If nothing else, mount it into place, loose, turn the steering wheel stop to stop, while watching the link. That will answer your question.
