I have a question about changing the color of my 70 Roadrunner. It is a 70 440 6 pack coupe, 4 speed and Dana rear end. The car only has 23,000 original miles on it. The original color is F8 ivy green. Being this is suppose to be only 1 of 451 made, will it have a major impact of value to change the color. I have the car the rotisserie right now, and would like to hear what anybody would think about this. Thanks.

Well it depends. If you are concerned about resale that's a very desirable car due to options and very low mileage. If you want to maximize future resale perhaps keep the orig color and btw that's a cool looking not often seen color esp on 6 BBL cars.

If you never plan to sell or are not concerned about not getting top dollar and want to maximize your own enjoyment paint it the color you want. A color change to something that looks attractive to a lot of people and yourself along the way may not turn out that big a deal anyway, esp if done to done to a high standard.

I vote for keeping the original color also. It is a rare and desirable car and sounds like it is in great shape. It would be a tremendous expense to change back later. Pick a plain Jane car or a basket case if you want a color change IMO.

1 of 451? ONE OF FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY ONE?

Sorry, It has to stay the same color, even if you're superstitious.

Now git ta sprayin' b'fore ya ghange ya mind!

Oh yeah, Let's see some pic's, even if it's up on the rotisserie! Good luck with the project!

Thanks guys.. I figured it would be the best option to keep the same color, but wanted a second opinion. Pretty soild car, except the typical rear window rust which led to some spots in the rear quarters. One more question, It was Ziebarted back in the 70's. Should I plug weld the holes in the door jambs and remove it from the trunk area? Paint over the undercoating? Here are a few pic's. Hopefully get back to it this winter.100_0292.jpg100_0297.jpg1970 Roadrunner (1).jpg1970 Roadrunner (3).jpg1970 Roadrunner (4).jpg

if you feel that you have bit of more than you can chew ,I`ll take it what part of ohio are you in

There are so many great looking custom colors now........unless you are doing a "points" car, look around....there are so many choices now.....I would look at Black mixed with a very Dark Cherry.......great color
Just my opinion

Nice. Actually i would probably would have serious debate in my head about not painting it at all except to fix what is wrong and match the paint. That sure looks like a candidate for a survivor tidy up.

I'm with tallhair on this one.

Me too. However, I do know that photos can be a bit deceiving in showing a cars true condition.

Either way, for the love of Pete(!) promise us you will remove that Flat Black from the engine compartment. It never was a Chebby :gah:

roger that! and definatly keep it F8.

The black in the engine compartment is undercoating. I have thought about the survivor route, but everything I have done before has been restored. I just think I would be much happier with it looking new. Rear window panel and rear quarter bottoms are the only rust on the car. I have already gotten the panels to repair.100_0252.jpg100_0253.jpg100_0300.jpg100_0301.jpg

Ditto. A friend of mine restored a 69 RR. He didn't like the original colour but was convinced by friends to keep it. Now he hates it and wishes he would have stuck to his original idea of painting it B5 blue. Think about it long and hard.
