I have a 69 383. When changing from points to electronic I will be ordering the modified engine harness through year one. Is there any other harnesses that are modified because of the change? The biggest one in question is the tic tic tac. Will it still work as normal?

If you are using the mp or similar conversion kit, you really don't need the modified harness. A pigtail comes in the kit. Just one wire to the ballast resistor, one to the coil, and the pigtail plug to the distributor. You will have to get your tac converted to electronic in order for it to be accurate also. It will read low if you don't do this.

you will also need the 70 & newer dual field alternator and electronic voltage regulator as well

Unless you go with MSD 6 OR 7 unit then all you need is a distributor and a one wire alternator with reg built in. No regulator, ballast resistor needed and no wiring changes other than bussing through the ballast wire.

Thanks, I'm sure I I'll have more questions later.

Chrysler Electronic Ignition

some of these may help, the one in color is 4 the 4 pin CEI
& Dual 4 pin ballast, With electronic voltage regulator, like in later years

good luck for a street/strip car the CEI is a good & reliable better alternative to points

I prefer the Mopar Performance Chrome ICU over the MP Orange box,
more dwell like 20* for upto 8000+rpm if you have allot of mods,
if your combo is more toward stock the MP Orange box is just fine...

There are also decent alternative ICU {controller boxes} that will be a plug &
play by to the CEI the ignition ICU, with leds & rev-limiter built in

Yep, forgot that you should have the regulator with the electronics in it. They make repos that look like the old mechanical style. As far as alternators go, you can keep your original 1 field.

You can keep the single field alt, but your going to need a different regualtor. This is the one I've been running for years.

Or consider going with Pertronix Ignitor. That's the route I went on the last Mopar I converted to electronic, and wish I had of on the previous ones.

Well here's the thing, I have nothing to keep. I'm open to anything. If the tic toc tac has to get modified, what harness do you buy? Yearone has one listed for the dash side and the engine side but that is for points??????

The harness is the same for points or electronic tach. You just need to have the tach updated, the connections will be the same. Someone like Redline or Instrument Specialties can do this for you.
