Hi members,

I´m trying to get my console done. The only thing that is still not mounted is the carpet.

I got my carpet from trim parts, so I thought I would like to get my console carpet as well from trim parts. So the carpet for the console arrived.I laied down the carpet and I was wondering how to glue it on. Do I have to cut it, or is it original that the carpet stays over the edges?
I made some photos so you can see what I mean.

This is the console without the carpet

Here you can see the paper is the console under the chrome trim. Do I have to cut the "not overlayed and glued together" edges off?

So it will look like that? (Top cut off) The part below will be lower than the console)

I was thinking back and forth but I have to be sure. How its done the original way? The old carpet was cut alongside the console edge but I have seen some cars where the carpet was not cut along the console lower edges.

Can somebody help me?

Thank you very much

The trim should be removed first, and installed last, after the carpet. Usually there's slight relief cuts for the trim clips. No part of the console should show below the carpet, the carpet is usually lower than the console. Do you have the original console carpet? Usually the replacement carpet is a bit longer than the original. The last picture look like it would be cut too short. Aerosol spray glue is typically used to attach after masking it off, then the trim is attached.

Thanks for the fast reply!

Yes the trim is still loose and will be added after the carpet is mounted.

I do not have slight relief cuts in the carpet. It was shown on the picture but the actual carpet does not have the cutouts. Otherwise it would be easy.

Ok that makes sense that no part is shown below the carpet.

Thats good to know that the carpet should be lower than the console. I had it in my mind but I was a little bit confused because the old carpet (Still sitting around somewhere) was cut alongside the console end and had no "folded corner". The spray glue was also almost loose so i think it is not the original carpet anymore.

The last picture is a little bit confusing. The black part beneath is the left side of the console.

Awesome! I will use some Aerosol spray glue.

The paper is the structure of the console, so the carpet will cover the console and stays over the edge at the button.

So is this the way, the carpet will be mounted?
