Charger Cernter Grille Emblem

My buddy asked if I knew why there were different color emblems found on the center grille of a 66/67. He said he's got one with a predominantly gold emblem and another with predominantly black emblem. I checked my loose center grille with red the predominant color in the emblem. So the question is why the different colors on the emblems - is it year based 66 versus 67 or ???

There was only one color... RED... however, over time, and with enough sun, the transparent Red color will often bleach out leaving a Gold Chrome finish. I have seen plenty of photographic examples showing the pieces at various stages of this transition.

Of course, I have also seen a number of pieces that had been modified (painted) later as well... I even saw a real pretty blue one once, Trans blue over a Nickel Chrome base.
