Question for those who have done this with success, what are the best avenues for researching cars history? All that is available is its VIN,and that it was sold new in New Mexico,no build sheet.I have been told that Galen Govier can only give info on specific cars if they have been reported to him.
TIA
Mike

If you have any other paperwork(receipts, repair work, etc.) or if somebody at your courthouse where you would register the car can do a title search, there really isn't any avenues to look at. If there is something special about the car galen might have something, or put up a photo and maybe somebody on here may recognize it.

Don't know what car or year you have - but if it is a 68-74 and the 7th digit is a 'B' - then it was built in the Hamtramck MI plant. They have a VIN search on their site. A long shot - but that's pretty much all you got. http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/found.shtml 'course I don't think they built b-bodies there... Good luck.

Thanks, kind of what I figured,it is a 68 GTX and there is an L in VIN,which is Lynch Rd?

I'm assuming the L is the 5th digit which is the engine code (440) Assembly plant is the 7th digit.

That's going to be a tough row to hoe, best of luck

RS23L8A........I believe the A is Lynch Rd?
