Well I just bought my 68 Roadrunner last week and already have had a couple of guys say its probably not a real RR. And when I first looked at it I check the VIN matched the title, the SO on the tag and radiator all matched up, but didn't know about the trunk SO stamp, so razor knife in hand to scrap of the sticky goop and paint I found it and it match the SO on the radiator frame and the tag. :thumbsup:

Now to check the engine and tranny. I know PCP is not a stock color for the 68 RR, It was originally in was a blue. But the owner told me that it was a RR and that the engine and tranny are original also.

How many 68 RR were hardtops?

I believe hardtops came in as a mid-year option... Along with the decor package but not sure on numbers. Why think it's not real? If your VIN matches to all those locations as you say, I would tell those guys to suck it!

Look at the rear of the motor where the top of the bellhousing meets the engine. See if there is some numbers there on the block. Kinda tough to see down in there so have a good light.

Yes I guess the only thing left is to verify the motor and the transmission are original to the car... According to your VIN that is a Saint Louis built 383 Roadrunner hardtop...

One guy said they didn't make very many so he doubted it.

Nice ride. Let's see more pics !!!!

RM = Road Runner
23 = hardtop
H = 383
All looks legit to me.

Just because they didn't make many, doesnt mean you don't have one of the few!

Oh and I'm not sure on numbers made either, I'm sure it can be researched!

According to MCG Knowledge Base 15,359 were made VIN date says 5/25.
Motor needs some work and cleaning up. Other than that no rust that I can find and the owner gave me detail pics of the metal before new paint. Hood lines and door lines look good. Interior needs some work but ok. Power Seat works.
