I am going from manual to automatic and have purchased a Cheetah shifter for my 70' Roadrunner. What else would I need to complete this set-up? Can I bring the cable through the shifter hole that is already there or do I need to make a new hole to route it? Does anyone have any pics of your linkage set-up that you can share?

I have exclusively used Cheetahs for years. Sit in the car and determine where you want to place the shifter. The red shifter cable should not bind anywhere if done properly. It is very flexible and dependable. Determine if you want to mount it directly to the floor or if you neeed or want to elevate it. The cable transition coming from off the shifter should alow it to ride very close to the floor, disappearing into the carpet. The prvious shifter hole from the manual will be way too big!! Seal it off and simply put a small hole big enough to take the cable. My hole is about 1/2" round. Once drilling the hole, I stuck a large punch into the hole, then tapped the punch flat towards the floor it with a hammer to give me the angle that I was looking for to make the transition smooth from the shitfer. In other words the there should be no violent curve in the cable making its way through the floor. That cable is extremely durable and flexible. Never had a problem with it!
Good luck

I just read some literature that states they have an installation kit for this application. I will send away for that. I am surprised they did not ask me if I needed that when I bought it.

I would really like to find a way to use this shifter with the original console. If not I bought the cheetah console to go with it. Thanks for your comments!

A word of advise,if the cable runs anywhere near the exhaust it will melt and the cable housing will unravel. A piece of fuel line hose or a fireproof spark plug wire sleeve zip tied on the cable can save a lot of aggravation.

amen to that. went through 2 cables that way before i smartened up and wrapped it in some reflective sheathing. when that outer liner melts and the cable exits through the side, no more shifty! that really stinks when your in line to get gas!!

That information is very helpful. I will make sure I follow your directions on this tip!!!
