Guys I'm sorry I keep asking non mopar ?'s but the reality is other car forums are lacking well everything. I've joined many only to find out site isn't maintained or there 2 active people or none . Or it's a site full of kids with crooked wheels .....
This is one of the best car guy sites with real active members.

Anyways to those that have that dirty word chebby sitting in the corner I got a ?
I went to hang a starter on my 305 in my caddy build and it doesn't fit!

So I have a 1986 Chevy 305 and a 83 t5 Chevy trans 153 tooth flywheel.
Everything seems to be correct
The starter is about a inch way from the bolts looking at motor from front it's 1"left of where it should lay.
I'm told there's two different starters nut from what I'm understanding the one I have is the one I need. Looks like the noise cone us the issue but wanted to double check. When I ask parts store no one gives me a tooth count .
I'm fixing to just buy a mini stater but want to keep with off shelf parts for ease of repair.
Any input would be helpful.

Also side note I have the kids car with the 350 and th350 starter won't fit it ether!?!?!
Was I given wrong part all together?

Thanks yeah I read threw it not much for my issue but I did learn a bit and saw auto and manuel have different nose's so I went looking into this well a steal nose is about 1/2 " smaller and sound s like it's what I need! Well I also am looking at mini starters and they have no noise cone and will eliminate all the issues. I wanted off the shelf looks like it won't happen because I need a certain one and all are alum now it looks they don't even ask for Manuel it auto on this ! I guess I'll just buy two starters and keep one in shelf for future if needed !
Only thing I came up with yet. But this still doesn't explain why it won't fit the auto Camaro! Unless it has the bit flex plate! I need to measure it !
God I remember why I left Chevy behind years ago!!!!

Get a Powermaster 9000 and don't look back. I used them on a 350/4 speed Monte to my 632 powered 81 Malibu. They are dual bolt pattern so they fit the 153 and the 168 tooth flywheel.

I've used power master alot in the past Ill have to look into it

On those 305s isnt there a notch in the crank pulley to wrap the starting rope ?

You prob just need a new rope. :D
