So, after venting about my concerns about cheap import junk I got hosed by an eBay seller.

I misplaced my new to me used OEM oil slinger that I recently bought (I have five small blocks that I disassembled but can't find one oil slinger!).

So I found a seller that sez they ship USPS from their New York warehouse...ok.

So I push the button and buy one.

I get a confirmation that they got the order and I will get the part 7/5-7/18 via China Post.

So much for getting that engine running this month.

I guess I can keep looking locally....

You do know chrysler quit using them when the seal design got better?

I've learned that any ad that says "US STOCK" is import junk. All "US STOCK" means is, someone stateside bought a container off a ship, and has it warehoused somewhere in CONUS.

You want cheap and that's what you get. A wanted ad here could have gotten you a OEM one for a few bucks.

I didn't want cheap I just wanted one!

I really prefer NOT buying the China parts. I bought one from 440source, not a favorite of mine, but it has found a good hiding spot among my parts inventory.

I should have a good used one but don't.... I have a problem with main caps, fuel pump eccentrics and a few other bits escaping my shop. I have a decent parts storage area and try to keep things in some order. Engine internal parts...rods, pistons, heads etc. seem to stay put but other parts just run and hide.

I have a grandson that is a prolific scrapper... I suspect he MAY be responsible for some of my disappearing inventory.

Update.... I ordered the first slinger on June 2nd... As of 6/18 it is still in China. I ordered a second one on 6/14 and I received it on 6/19. Shipped from New Jersey...still an import but I have it in hand.

I almost started to make my own. Pretty simple really...18ga steel, a hole saw, small file and a small wooden buck use to form the outside edge. But I got a notice of shipment on that second part so I put my metalworking tools away.

Shameless plug alert!!!!

You can view the latest episode of my 318 rehab on my YouTube channel. I will be posting a new video later today. Do not expect fancy intros, mind blowing graphics and slick productions.

Just an old grumpy bastard trying to get one last project on the road before I assume room temperature.

My user name is 413 Mopar... I really appreciate your views.

Update....I found the main caps from one of the Magnum engines I have!!!

Plus all the valve train, too!

I may have several parts from that engine sold to a Mopar guy in Austria....

Well every LA I have had over the years had one...can't hurt to use one.

Magnums may be a different story.

Magnum's don't have one.

New part number is P5249636. Summit is out of stock, Amazon shows one, but does not say it is in stock, I have 2, and there is one on ebay saying he has more that 10. We both want the same, $20 but he is free shipping and I am not... ;)

You can call your local dealer with the part number I listed above and see if they have any stock left.

Oil Slinger For Mopar Dodge Big Block 383 400 440 USA MADE THE ORIGINAL 127-1001 | eBay
There's a 440Source slinger hiding in my shop. Bought it last month. Brought it out to the shop. It must have jumped off my bench and ran and hid.

While looking for some bolts tonite I DID find the fuel pump eccentric that I could not find a few weeks ago. It hid under a gasket set.

It's obvious I either have a memory problem or these frickin parts are conspiring to get me...

I'm going with the latter....

I may take you up on that...but my budget is gone for this month.

Saw my shoulder surgeon today....he gave me a note to give my teacher, err dispatcher, saying Ricky can go back to work.

So I may have some spendable cash next week.

Since 2010 I have had three shoulder replacements, two knee replacements, a widow maker heart attack that required a 20 minute, $24,700 helicopter ride to the heart hospital to get a stent placed in my heart, two back operations and a e-coli blood infection that put me in a four day coma and had me circling the drain for almost a week... I couldn't lift my right leg high enough to climb one step. I was a mess.

But I never needed a note from my doctor to be able to go back to work until now. I'm driving for a little family run trucking company and they act like they are some international operation with their fancy rules.

If I do like the fact that they allow me to work as much or as little as I want and they pay me a fair hourly wage I would have been back in the saddle two months ago working for another carrier.

I will get back to you when I'm rich...

Not to be condescending, but if you don't have 15 bucks for an oil slinger, you're in the wrong hobby.

I truly do hope that your health improves.

I know of a fellow that bought a pretty clapped out, not too rusty Sport Fury. He worked minimum wage. People told him to give up! About 10 years went by and he had it on the road. He scrimped and saved to do it. He was so proud of what he achieved. Yes some can stroke a cheque and say look what I have. And win a trophy at a show.
I think show’s should have an award for participants that to get their vehicles done.

Count your blessings, most people only have two shoulders.
Yeah....that three shoulder deal is a family deal passed on from my ancestors.

Actually my right shoulder gave out in 2009... Drove my Peterbilt with the right arm in a sling for a year until I had it replaced.

The old style implant I got did not hold up well. This new one swaps the ball and socket around....supposed to be stronger.

But they removed all of my rotator cull muscles in the process. They rearranged things to have another muscle group hold the shoulder together.

But that's it for fixing this. If this fails I either live with the pain or have my arm removed.

So I need to behave myself.

Yesterday I got the OK to go back to my PT driving job. But I'm going to wear a shoulder brace for my own piece of mind.

Starting 53 years of trucking on Friday...
