1968 Dodge Coronet 500. I just realized as I am assembling my 500 that the hood does not have a chrome trim across the front edge lip. The trunk has a chrome trim along the lip. How can I tell if this car should have a piece of chrome on the hood?

Thanks,
Jim

Guess that is why I am asking, the hood has the holes for it. Also I am not seeing reproductions for these years....

Well in that case (of the holes being present) that's your answer. Since the holes weren't mentioned initially, I wasn't sure if they were there, or covered up or perhaps a different hood was used that didn't have that mounding. As for no reproductions on the market, there probably hasn't been enough clam morning for them yet but who knows.

The HUNT begins!
It actually may be a long hunt. I am looking in the parts book for '69 and it is not listing a hood lip chrome trim.... it has the trunk but not the hood... maybe it never had one?

You can tell if it's a factory hole,,,,not from a self tapper.

They look very uniform. I just posted a thread to see if anyone can show me a '68 or '69 with a factory lip chrome piece. I'm still not convinced. This car should have had it if it existed I think. It is VERY original, one owner, stored since '84. It did go in the ditch in the early 70's so it has had some body work and OEM replacement parts which is where the question of what was original comes in.
