Hey everyone,

Made a video on the history of Chrysler's turbine program. Hope you enjoy.

My wife with her brothers and sister in the Chrysler Turbine car at the Chrysler Pavilion during the 1965 New York World's Fair.

Kind of sad to see those destroyed . They were very Cool looking . I dont imagine there are many left.

Supposedly there were nine that survived. Chrysler kept three of them for their museum,Ford has one of them in their museum ,the Smithsonian has one. I think the one Jay Leno has is one of the three Chrysler museum cars if I remember correctly.

8 are in various museums and 1 is in Jay Leno’s personal collection.

Yeah such a waste. Should’ve just donated them all over the world or something.

Nice job on the video! Crushing those gems brings tears to my eyes. It's just unfathomable how stupid big business can be.

It's unfathomable how stupid government regulations and the public can be.

In this instance it seems like it was all corporate.

Thanks, slowly growing the channel. Hope to have it help pay for my restoration. Hope you check out the other stuff on the channel.

Imagine if they just let people in the program pay the $500 and keep it? Then we might have a few more floating around.

Did not watch the video. But did it happen to mention the ones that exploded because people could not follow proper start procedure. Chrysler nursed these car were ever they were. As much as I hate see cars destroyed the right disission had been made to a limited production run of test vehicles.

They haven't done many concept vehicles in a while-

The reason the cars and the engines were destroyed was Chrysler did not want to pay the Customs duty that the cars had on them - remember, the bodies were built in Italy. The fee due to Uncle Sam was not a lot in today's money, but relatively substantial for 1964. Even if they had paid up, the company would've likely scrapped the cars, anyway. They weren't about to sell nearly 70 experimental cars off to the public.

What we need to remember is this was not the first of the turbine cars or the last in the program. But it was this only public offering at a chance to drive one. Chrysler got the answers they wanted and there was no reason to have them sitting around. Plan and simple.
Maybe Jay can afford to have parts built for his if something breaks. It not like he could just walk into a parts store or dealership and pickup a part. Even with our old classics that is becoming a problem.

Supposedly Jay has another whole engine for his car in a crate.
