How do you guarantee that the DMV will allow the buyer to register the plate (the moment after you have given up your right to the assigned plate by handing it over at the DMV)? Just wondering.

I just sold them but what you do, if you have an occasion to buy some other personal plates is have the owner show you that they are currently registered to the person selling them. Have them write and sign a letter stating the plates are being gifted to you and that they are going to be registered to your vehicle with whatever the description and VIN is. Go to either DMV or I use an private registration company "In and Out Vehicle Registration" in Lake Elsinore Ca 951.245.3939 and they will take care of the paperwork and DMV (Cost around $75.00).
