Clint Walker, who starred as a gentle giant cowboy on the ABC Western "Cheyenne," died Monday, TMZ reports. He was 90.

HIs daughter Valerie told the outlet he died of congestive heart failure.

The 6'6" Hollywood star was born Norman Walker in Illinois in 1927, and launched his acting career after a brief stint in the Merchant Marines, according to his website.

DeMille personally cast Walker in his film "The Ten Commandments," which opened the door for roles in films like "Requiem to Massacre," "Send Me No Flowers" with Rock Hudson and Doris Day, and a starring role in the 1965 war drama "None But the Brave," Frank Sinatra's lone directing credit.

Walker's signature role, though, was Cheyenne Bodie, the nomadic post-Civil War cowboy he played for more than 100 episodes over seven seasons.

Post-cowboy, Walker appeared in TV shows like "Kodiak," "The Love Boat" and Lucille Ball's "The Lucy Show." His final role was a voice part in the 1998 film "Small Soldiers."

Walker, who was married three times and had one daughter, famously survived a freak skiing accident in 1971, in which he was declared dead after a crash led to a ski pole piercing his heart.

R.I.P.

One of the Gentle Giants I looked up to as a kid. Loved his presence. God Bless you Clint!

I loved his movies as a kid and his politics as an adult, a hero to me in both regards. R.I.P. sir, thanks for the memories.

Night of the Grizzly, good movie. Liked CW's work as a kid. Glad he made it to 90, so many don't get that far.

Just watched the Dirty Dozen the other night.

Rest In Peace!

Remember his skiing accident in the news. Amazing he survived it and went on for many decades after unscathed. Part of the greatest generation moving on. I'm old enough to have had many departed relatives including my folks from that gen and other friends who I remember I admired with their life skills, toughness and know how. They had a different outlook on life going through the depression and WWII: suck it up and accept responsibility before blaming or looking to others for help. Whining wasn't given any respect...I know I tried that in my younger days and didn't work out well with those folks!
