I'm getting a clunk noise from the rear when I hit second hard I wondering if traction bars would stop this. Everything mechanically is fine I think it just the rear end slapping please give me some input

Does it have a pinion snubber, S/S springs, ?? When snubbers are adjusted incorrectly you can get a pretty good wallop when the axle wraps enough for it to smack the floor if set too far away. Traction bars are commonly known as "slapper bars" for a reason too! They can slap with axle wrap if they are not adjusted correctly too. The little bumpers should be adjustable and set close to the leaf with tires on the ground. Mopars don't commonly use traction bars however....... A set of Mono leafs and CalTracs would be a nice upgrade for you to perform over the winter. Its a weekend job in worse case scenario.

Also,,, what vehicle is it?

check to see if your trans mount is broken before you go crazy.also look for any loose bolts on the rear allowing it to move.

No snubber just stock I don't want to set up to race just to have fun on the street I just font wanna tear the rear end out of it

Nothing is broken it all just went new under there

Did you check the rear U joint real good? Might try greasing it if it has a fitting.

Ok, then just keep rompin on it. Whatever it is will fall out on the ground soon enough. Then you'll know what it is.

I used to have a 70 duster that used to bang pretty hard when i side stepped the clutch, stock pinion snubber. Try putting something on top of the snubber like a glob of grease and see if it transfers to the body. Just sounds like aggressive driving to me lol.

Check motor mounts too. The motor torquing uup and then catching will give you a bang that can feel like its coming from the rear. Is this an auto or manual trans? Just a thought. If the mount is bad you usually fell the thud or bang on accleration too, but maybe not. Worth a look i suppose
