Clutch push rod orientation

[69 Charger]

Finishing reassembly of my Charger after a 2-1/2 year restoration. The clutch pushrod between the clutch fork and the z-bar has a bend where it connects to the z-bar. Does it bend toward the z-bar or away from it? I have it bending away, and the first time I pressed the clutch pedal the spring washer disengaged itself and headed for the pavement.
