Code N97

Im restoring a 70 RR 440/6 The fender tag shows I have N42 Chrome exhaust tips, N96 Fresh air hood, N97 Noise reduction package. My question is what does the N97 mean? It is a CA car. Thanks

N97 was required in California for noise reduction in 440/6 and Hemi with 4 speed....not sure if it had an additional resonator or what but someone here should know.

Found something online that said it was just turned down tailpipes :shruggy:

It has the Chrome tip code and has tips on it. I know the hemi cars had resonators on them and turn down tail pipe, but do not know if any had the N97 code for tips?

sorry the code for tips is N42..
