comments at 5:04 pretty much sums it all up

Thanks that is a great video! HEMI showing chevy owners the taillights one race at a time!

Well, I'm all about Mopar.....but the Buick had a serious disadvantage. None of them ever came with a solid lifter cam from the factory, so he was limited to hydraulic. I think with a better driver, the Buick couldda had sumffin fer the Road Runner. Dudek is gonna have the most high dollar stuff he can have in even his lawn mower. lol I loved how that Road Runner really burns at half track and beyond. He better be glad they weren't runnin 1/8 mile. lol

Im not sure on the rules, but it needs to look factory, not be factory. I think they can cram any cam in as long as it sounds stock. Big roller cams are the way to go. If that buick is at a disadvantage, he should have left it on the trailer.

I agree, but I respect the big Buick. There's some weight difference there for sure.

Here are the rules for the camshaft.

"6.00 CAMSHAFT
6.01 Camshaft must produce a correct* stock sound at idle. We all know what a STOCK cam sounds like! Factory cam specs will be taken into consideration when determining the correct* idle sound.
Example: An Olds W30 or a Mopar Max Wedge car had large cams from the factory. They will not be expected to idle as smoothly as a 1973 400. Camshaft lopiness and smoothness will be teched with the engine operating at idle RPM and from the exhaust outlets. Upgrade to solid flat tappet or roller cam OK. Mechanical sounds from the valve train are not a tech item.

Note: The camshaft rule is under investigation, so that it may be better enforced. Currently there are no changes but the F.A.S.T. Board will be conducting various tests during the 2010 racing year to determine the best way to tech for this. During 2010 there will be testing of cars done at the track (during normal F.A.S.T. tech) to document engine vacuum, idle rpm, db sound levels, ect. These test results will be used to better clarify, test and enforce the spirit of the F.A.S.T. camshaft rule."

That sounds like a fun class.

Check the rules on engine displacement. Really ford? Did ya get a nut in each cheek when ya got on your knees for that one?

F.a.s.t.

thanks Rebel great vedio... As freaken cool as that is & as much as I love RR's & Mopars... F.A.S.T. participants, unfortunately the "SLICK car shoot out" is not a typical F.A.S.T. sanctioned race, the fastest car {at-least use to be anyway, I haven't checked in a while now}, even on stock appearing 7" street tires & rims, stock appearing suspension, stock appearing manifolds, stock appearing full interior, is a freaken' Fugly a$$ Lane Carey's 71 Mustang shown below 9.84et @ 132mph best, the Dudek 69 Hemi RR 9.98et @ 139mph best, in actual competition, much faster than either, that mid 10 second Buick or Dudek's same mid 10 sec. Hemi RR in the Slick Shoot Out... only stock appearing & sounding, yeah right with very loosely interpreted rules, don't sound like stock idle at all too me anyhow, they are actually far from being anything near stock, especially the bottom end, transmissions, rear ends, cylinder-heads & camshafts, let alone any other way they get around the very subjective rules.... just figured I would throw that in the mix

Im aware of the mustangs time. Check the rules for ford cubic inch size too. Let dudek punch that hemi out to the same size as the fords are allowed and lets see whats up. Interestingly, the RR started out life as a GTX, but to shave weight he turned it into a road runner.

Cool as hell... Yeah..they have to give them a chance at-least, added cubes, were their answer I guess...LOL... that Hemi's heads probably flow somewhere in the 400cfm-440cfm range too, nowhere near anything close to stock, you can't do that with a Ford FE, Wedge even the Boss heads ever, maybe a Shot Gun head, but they would be a Hemi also, limited in cubes too... I'm half surprized that they even allow the Hemi's to compete in F.A.S.T....

LMAO HELL YEAH! That was great to see Hemi putting a whoopin on chebby cars, that vette almost had him but like a typical chebby drops off at the end and looses hahahahaha

This venue is more about building a car that LOOKS new as delivered from the factory in outward appearence with a license to do anything you want that can not be SEEN.

The spirit of F.A.S.T. racing is simply just as the name implies ractory APPEARING stock tire. The interpetation of the rules have been loose for venues history. The biggest issue has always been the cam/sound. These cars are not realisticlly streetable as the run 14-1 compression. When they come up with a way to accurately detect the cam sounds with some kind of graph that is fair to all they MIGHT use it. I have been told by others who attend and participate in this venue are all having fun and don't whine about the rules nearly as much as I am hearing here.

The biggest trick in this venue is how to launch without shreading the tires and going nowhere at the line. It has been obvious by the time vs. speed that there is a lot more E.T. available in these cars with traction forever, which prompted this race which of course is totally the opposite of the venues intentions. The Corvette use to beat the Roadrunner all the time with street tires but that is mainly because in street type form the Vette has the traction advantage with the independent rear suspension. But you did not here the Mopar own/drivers whining about it.
