- interesting, very interesting.:homework:

Don't tell me their stuff is going overseas! They've got a couple of cams I like for my 440 build;looks like I should grab one now before the quality goes to @#$%. Please keep us informed.

Yes, interesting indeed.. As tempting as it is I'd hate to speculate at this point.

i have to watch what i say but the poop i got from a close source to this says they just cut way back on their r&d expences. there is more to it but that is the jist of it.

Comp Cams cut way back several years ago and was close to closing it's doors at one point. Customer service has sucked every time I've used them and haven't used them for my personal projects in a very long time and the last engine I did an engine for someone, I tried to talk him out of using CC but he insisted. Ended up having to send back the wrong parts twice!! WTH. Screw that mess. I won't deal with them anymore.

i don't like them either. a lot of broken parts and lost $$$ dealing with their junk.

So who is left to trust? Crane went into re-organization, and a buy-out a few years ago. They were at deaths-door. I thought Comp was stable. The competition was gone! whats going on! I thought they had the largest slice of the pie?

Well you can always call up old Racer Brown, he'll custom grind whatever you want and is still very reasonable and trustworthy. Heck, he did a lot of the original Mopar cams back in the 60's and 70's for the factory racecars. I've had good luck with him.

I've tried to find him but had no luck. Was told they are long gone. If you have any info please share!

Last one I ordered I went through Don at FBO (4secondsflat.com). We were doing a few things together and he has him on his speed dial.
I can see if I still have his # though.

racer brown has been dead for many years. there is a person in maryland who grinds his profiles now. i've had good luck with engle. i'm always looking for comp cams alternatives.

My misquote, isn't it Jim who bought the "Racer Brown" name and is grinding & selling the cams now?

I've had excellent results using Isky products but it's been awhile since using them. I also would consider calling Damon @ Diamondback Engines especially if you want a custom grind. Custom grinds do not cost that much more and in 99% of the time, they made the car faster than off the shelf stuff. Also, custom grinds take advantage of Mopar's larger diameter lifters while most off the shelf cams are ground based on GM size lifters. Anyways, Damon's number is 832-520-0632

Anyone have any recent experience with Lunati? I used some of their cams, lifters, etc. back in my racing days with good results, but that was many years ago.

Isky has been good to me as well. Made my old 383 haul ***. Anyway, I just got off the phone with Ron and he said he can grind any of the old profiles he has. I have an old Isky roller that was a custom grind from the famous 1012B and I'm going to build a motor around it. The 1012B was the cam that Dick Landy used to win the 1969 Super Stock class with his 69 R/T Charger.
