hi all,

i have an after market gauge providing the engine temp right now and i have traced the location on the engine where i am getting the temp. however, i think i found the coolant temp sensor where my stock gauge is connected.

can you take a look and tell me if that is the stock engine temp/coolant sensor is?

thanks

no sir. the 440 has a dry intake. that would be a manifold temp gauge(?)

IIRC the stock one is on the front of the water pump.

Here's my aftermarket sensor...the coil with the brass end. you may have a plug in that spot with a recessed head in it. mine did.

The stock temp sensor is through the alternator bracket hole probably with a purple wire on it.

the stock one is on the passenger side of waterpump, hard to get at because of alt bracket...Like the pic shows, aftermarket is top, passenger side of pump/upper hose

A temp reading in the intake manifold may provide some useful data for carb tuning, but it won't do a thing if you want to know water temp.

So I have to ask, what temps are you getting with it set up like that?

Thanks all.

Thanks MarPar for the pic. I too have the coolant temp as you have set up.

I was curious cause I was thinking of getting the stock gauge working.
