I ordered a new gas tank grommet from Steele rubber products, their catalog indicates that pn 70-2580-39 will fit a large variety of Chrysler products including a 1966 Coronet which I have . The grommet arrived today and appears too small as it is much looser in the hole than the old one I took out. They indicate that it is the replacement for pn 2203473. Has anyone used this part from them and experienced the same problem? I can put the grommet on the filler tube first and force it over the hole but not sure if that is the correct procedure? This should be easier than it appears to be. Thanks for the help, Jim M

It aint easy. I lubed my tube and rammed it in there. That sounds so nasty.lol I got mine from the dealer for under 20. Think it was 14 or 16

Something isn't right, the pn they say it replaces is 2203473 but the pn on the original is 2203472 and I have another one I took out of a 1967 Dart and that pn is also 2203472, wonder where they came up with their part number. Steele tech says it's the right one.

mistakes happen measure the filler tube and the hole in the tank and advise them with the info and see if they can correct for you
You may need an earlier or later model one

Jim,

I may seem redundant on this one, but have you fit the tube in the hole yet? I had a similar issue on my 67 Coronet and in the end it fit fine, after seating it.

got mine from mega parts and it fit great.nice and tight in the tank.67 coronet by the way.

I ordered mine from Classic Industries. I had a hell of a time getting the filler tube in the grommet once I got it on the tank. (maybe I should have put it on the tube first? Either way I ended up getting it on there and sealed around it with rtv for good measure.
