Hi,

I am trying to find out the correct wheels (type and size) my 1970 383 Roadrunner came with as built at the Lynch Road Assembly Plant.

I just recently bought the car in Mayville, NY, and had it shipped to Oslo, Norway where I am carefully taking care of it.

The car is a survivor and has been sitting in a garage since 1980. It is an all original and a great driver. Only minor rust damages to the body. Otherwise in a very good condition.

I want to keep it as original as possible and the 2 build - / broadcast sheets I found under the seats are helping me and giving me alot of fun in this respect. However, I have one big problem. That is to determine the correct type of wheels the car came with. Accoring to the buildsheet, it was not ordered with a special wheel cover: options starting with W. (No markings in the build sheet under W).

But line 4 in the buildsheet states the following info:

WHEELS:
ROAD - COLOR - SPARE
17 - EB7 - 17

The color is the same as the car, B7, but what about the number 17? What does this mean? The car came with the tire option T86, F70x14 White.

Hope to get some help on this issue. Thanks!

Possibly body color wheels with hubcaps.

Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it.

The color of the car you show looks differently than the color on my car, B7 - Jamaica Blue). Do you know the color?

I guess 17 means (otherwise listed as option W17): 14 inch Coloured Steel Wheel.

Thanks!

Exactly! I believe so too, B3.

As far as I know Goodyear was the main provider of tires, meaning that the tire option T86 (my car came with) means Goodyear tires F70x14 White Side Wall - as the car you show in the picture. Are these from the same series as the polyglas tires which often came with raised white letters? Or do you know if there was another manufacturer / another line of tires?

Thanks!

You have been very helpful. Thank you!

Do you know if the manufacturer was Goodyear or Firestone? I have read that the standard equipment for RM23 included Wide Oval Whitewall Tires. But I am not sure about the manufacturer?

Hope to get some feedback on this issue. Thanks!

If that is your actual window sticker your whell sales code is shown as w21--rallye wheels and should show on the bottom of your broadcast sheet as w21

Hi,

But line 4 in the buildsheet states the following info:

WHEELS:
ROAD - COLOR - SPARE
17 - EB7 - 17

A couple of assumptions:

The number that follows in the box after the wheels is WHEEL COVER is 88.

This means the car came with 14X5.5 stamped steel wheels painted body color with the standard Plymouth hub cap.

This also means the window sticker pictured is not the original for this car.

Sorry for any confusion!

The window sticker I show is not for my car. It belongs to a different car, but I found the text regarding items included in the "standard equipment" interesting. Although it did not explain to me the manufacturer of the tires....

My car is a 383, the window sticker is for a 440.

Thanks!

69Coronetrt,

you are right about the number in the box after the wheels. The number is 88, meaning a standard Plymouth hub cap.

Thank you!

B&W photo shows 1 of 2 buildsheets found in my car, under the front - and backseat.
