Could this be the next round terrorism target(s)?

I would be interested in how far these shots were taken as I have not see that yet? Most people don't have the knowledge, capability and equipment to reach out 1,000 yards and beyond................

My understanding is that both terrorists and foreign governments are trying to hack into computer systems that control public utilities. We had an attempt in Jacksonville recently, but they got into customer accounts rather than anything that dealt with operating the grid. I guess that is a start. I am sure we have the capability to knock out most foreign power grids should there be a justified need.

I always felt like the railroads carrying toxic chemicals in large volumes through heavily populated areas were the softest targets. It does not take much to move a rail and derail a train. The rails are far too widespread and heavily used to be constantly monitored.

Water supply? When I went to college in Columbia, MO we used to cut the padlock off the public water tower and climb up the enclosed ladder in a tube that ran up the middle. You climbed past the public water supply that allowed them to maintain water pressure during heavy usage and could go out the top hatch to sit on the top and drink beer. Some of my buddies in crime were engineers, but all the technology required was a bolt cutter. It wasn't very secure, even though folks at that time were worried about LSD being put into the water supply. If we had had that much LSD, we certainly would not have wasted it on the populace of Columbia, MO. LOL

Hour and a half? Anyone got the Cliff Notes?

I'll play conspiracy theorist here. The Government must first create a crisis before it can create a solution to the crisis. What I find interesting is I see security guards in shopping malls and grocery stores in Oakland and a lot of effort goes into keeping the shopping carts from getting stolen by the homeless. A local bank just a few blocks away from me is like Fort Knox and only one or two people are allowed in at any given time. Polycarbonate windows everywhere. There is an airlock area with a security guard where they control who enters. Tellers don't even hand the cash out but rather give you some card and you get the cash from some inside ATM thing.

But the power sub station, city water supply and similar important areas can be hacked by a few kids with bolt cutters? Middle Easterners already have a bad name around here (and many for good reason). So just replace the local American pranksters who want to break into the city water plant to drink beer because it's cool with Mid Easterners who have no problem (and take pleasure) causing havoc or worse. Mid Easterners are already on the **** list so what do they care?

When I was a kid back in Idaho, way back in the 50s some of the older kids in my neighborhood got in trouble for shooting the insulators off of power poles and causing a power blackout in town. Were they terrorists? I guess that by today's standards they were. The local cops took them in and scared the hell out of them but nobody called the FBI. Lucky for them there was no Homeland Security back then or they might have ended up in Guantanamo.
My point is that since 9/11 the media has everybody scared of everything. You are a lot more likely to be killed by medical malpractice than a terrorist attack. The media and the government would have you believe that you are always in imminent danger from terrorists. It's just the easiest way to curb your freedom and spend huge amounts of tax money on programs that don't really make us any safer. JMHFO. Rant over. Thank you.

Paranoia propaganda media sensationalism, govt. conspiracies... Maybe the govt. needs a reason to buy all them Billions of $$$ of 9mm & .40ca rounds for under the auspice/pretense of domestic protection or domestic terrorism... that are more like trying to prepare for an uprising/revolt or coup... The 9 most feared words today... " I'm from the Govt. And I'm here to help" Ronald Reagan

This is right down the street from me. There is no terror problem. Bin Laden is dead, GM is alive. Just ask the first golfer.

With terrorists able to cross our open border with Mexico, anything is likely to happen.
